The challenge
On-demand ride apps are great until the moment you actually need them. The fare jumps with surge pricing, no one accepts your ride when you have a flight to catch, and the quote you saw rarely matches the charge. For anyone who plans their day, that uncertainty is the whole problem.
Wheee set out to flip the model for Wellington: a ride you book ahead, with the driver and the fare locked in, so there are no surprises and no last-minute scramble.
What we built
We built Wheee as two connected apps on a single platform, one for riders and one for drivers, with an operations console behind them. The heart of it is pre-scheduling: riders book in advance, see the exact fare before they confirm, and get matched to a vetted local driver who is locked in ahead of time.
Around that sit live tracking, in-app chat, trip-sharing for family, secure card payments and digital receipts, plus a rewards layer that makes riding a little more fun. Drivers get their own app to see the day ahead, navigate and track earnings, while the team runs dispatch, a live map and payouts from one place.

Drivers see their scheduled jobs ahead of time, accept with one tap, get the route handed straight to navigation, and keep track of their earnings, all on their own terms.
Trust and safety
Every driver is vetted and verified. Riders see the driver photo, vehicle and plate before pickup, can share a live trip link with family, and have in-app support if anything feels off, with route monitoring working quietly in the background.

Behind the scenes, the team runs the whole service from one web dashboard: dispatch, a live map of every ride, driver payouts, and promotions.
